Quick Answer
Section titled “Quick Answer”Using the Support command lets a Leader have one Monster join them and grant that Monster’s support ability (often referred to as a Rally Trait in Producer Letters). This is a tradeoff: the selected Monster is no longer acting as an independent battlefield unit, so you exchange that active body for the Trait. Official examples (NIS America System): Dragon — Movement +1; Pixie — Recover 5% of MP at the start of each turn; Demon — allied units become Dark element but Magic Defense decreases by 20%.
How it works (step-by-step)
Section titled “How it works (step-by-step)”- Prepare a squad with a Leader and up to five Monsters (squad size and formation are set by the Leader in the system text).
- Use the Support command to select one Monster from the Leader’s squad to “join” the Leader and grant its support ability.
- Once selected, the Leader gains the Monster’s support ability (Rally Trait) while that Monster no longer functions as an independent battlefield unit.
- Play the battle with the Leader carrying that Rally Trait; evaluate whether the Trait’s effect is worth the missing active unit.
Note: the System page uses the term Support System / Support command; Producer Letters describe the mechanic as Rallying and use Rally Trait terminology. The steps above reflect confirmed system wording rather than unknown UI labels or undocumented mid-battle rules.
What happens to the selected Monster
Section titled “What happens to the selected Monster”- It joins the Leader and grants its support ability (explicitly described on the official System page).
- It stops acting as an independent battlefield unit for the duration of that choice — you lose that Monster’s separate turn, movement, and direct actions while it is joined to the Leader.
- Official System and Producer materials do not confirm other UI-specific consequences (for example, exact dismissal costs, mid-battle swap rules, or whether the Monster can be targeted separately).
What the Leader gains
Section titled “What the Leader gains”- The Leader receives the selected Monster’s support ability — referred to in Producer Letters as a Rally Trait.
- Rally Traits are varied: mobility, resource recovery, elemental changes, or tradeoffs that alter stats or resistances.
- The effect is applied to the Leader (and, where the Trait text specifies, to allied units) per the support ability’s description.
Official Rally / Support Trait examples (confirmed)
Section titled “Official Rally / Support Trait examples (confirmed)”All three examples below come from the NIS America System text.
- Dragon — Movement +1
- Pixie — Recover 5% of MP at the start of each turn
- Demon — All allied units become Dark element, but Magic Defense decreases by 20%
(Producer Letters use the terms Rallying and Rally Trait when discussing additional monster traits. Use Producer Letters for more Rally Trait names when they are explicitly attributed.)
When Support / Rally is worth using
Section titled “When Support / Rally is worth using”Choose Rallying when the Rally Trait provides a tactical effect that outweighs losing an active Monster body. Common situations:
- Mobility needs: Movement +1 (Dragon) lets a Leader reach objectives or reposition more reliably on tight maps.
- Sustained resource usage: Pixie’s Recover 5% of MP can justify losing a body for long fights that require frequent skills.
- Specific strategy synergy: a Rally Trait that directly enables your Leader’s planned tactics (for example, enabling a one-turn objective capture, escape, or repeated skill use).
- Puzzle or choke maps where one stronger Leader with enhanced movement or recovery is more valuable than an extra independent unit. Link: see /combat-tips/ and /classes/ for tactical context.
When keeping the Monster deployed is better
Section titled “When keeping the Monster deployed is better”Keep the Monster as an independent unit when:
- Your squad needs its raw combat contribution (damage, tanking, ranged support) on the field.
- You require the additional positioning flexibility from having a separate body to occupy/contest tiles.
- The Rally Trait imposes a meaningful tradeoff (for example, the Demon trait’s defense penalty) that reduces your overall survivability.
- You are unsure whether the fight will last long enough for a recovery Trait or mobility gain to pay off.
For Monster role evaluation, compare the Rally Trait against the Monster’s expected independent value — see /monsters/ and /best-monsters/ for unit profiles and role testing.
Common mistakes players make
Section titled “Common mistakes players make”- Treating Rally as a free passive buff: it is not — the selected Monster is removed as an independent unit.
- Choosing a Rally Trait without checking the tradeoff (for example, Demon’s Magic Defense penalty).
- Assuming Rally/Support will always be available mid-battle — official System and Producer materials do not confirm mid-battle swap or release mechanics.
- Building a squad that relies on both the Monster’s independent actions and its Rally Trait simultaneously (you can’t have both at once).
Terminology & evidence boundary
Section titled “Terminology & evidence boundary”- Official System page name: Support System; it describes the Support command that lets a Leader have one Monster join and grant a support ability.
- Producer Letters refer to the same mechanic using the words Rallying and Rally Trait.
- Do not invent a single reconciled naming model that treats System and Producer Letter wording as different commands. Report both confirmed labels as they appear in those sources.
- The three Trait examples above are directly from the NIS America System text. Other Rally Trait names that appear in Producer Letters should be attributed to those letters when used.
Q: Does the Rallied Monster still take its own turns? A: No — the selected Monster is no longer acting as an independent battlefield unit while it is joined via the Support command.
Q: What are some confirmed Rally Trait examples? A: Confirmed by the NIS America System page: Dragon — Movement +1; Pixie — Recover 5% of MP at the start of each turn; Demon — allied units become Dark element and Magic Defense decreases by 20%.
Q: Can I swap Rally choices mid-battle or dismiss the Rallied Monster for free? A: Official System and Producer materials do not document mid-battle swap rules, dismissal costs, or exact release mechanics.
Q: Where can I find which monsters have Rally Traits? A: Producer Letters list additional Rally Traits; for unit-by-unit profiling, check /monsters/ and the Monster pages that cite Producer Letter attributes.
